A couple of days ago, my wife and I were talking about our blogs. She posed a question I’m still unable to answer for myself. “What do i want my blog to be?”
I’ve realized that this blog has been a place of great intentions but very infrequent follow through. I struggle to find a reason why this happens.
So for the 3-4 of you who watch this thing (–oh! maybe this is an ego thing….ya know, the more people who read/commented the more I’d write–stupid ego), I pose two questions to you:
1. To you personally, what is the purpose of a blog?
2. What about this or other people’s blogs makes you read them?
I look forward to your replies. Maybe in them, I’ll find my purpose and motivation.

1. I think of my blog as a journal of sorts but I must confess I hold alot back from it because I know people like my mom read it and I don’t want to completely freak them out. I love that you guys can check my blog and get a feel on what’s in my head that day you know?
2. I read your blog because I love your wife and I want to feel connected to you guys even though your so far now. You both played a HUGE role in bringing me back to Jesus and so I am forever indebted to you two.
-By the way? I love you too; it’s just Kristy is my first love:)

I check your and Kristy’s blog several times a week to hear how life is going with your beautiful gift of grace (Savannah), and to stay connected to what your lives are holding. I love you two, Savannah, Papa of Faith, Miss Sharry, dear Tara and her new husband Jacob, etc. You get the idea. I enjoy your blogs as they help me feel like I am in touch with you all and learning of your thoughts as though we are sharing them in conversation together. I also am inspired by your journeys and honesty.

1. blog is an opportunity to log the ins and outs of your life, mostly with the notion and understanding that others will read it (otherwise, why keep a blog on public domains)
2. to catch up on my friends like you, and knowing that there is a phenomenon known (I coined this) as blog karma. The more blogs you read and comment on, well, eventually your blog will be read and commented on too. Just call it the BK phenomenon.
I’m pretty new to the blogging world, but I’m finding that I really love it. For me it’s a chance to say what’s on my mind and also hear about other people’s lives, whether they’re friends that I know or a couple cool people I’ve met on vox. I read yours and Krisy’s blogs because it’s a great way for me to keep up with your lives, especially when you were living out of town. I know it’s important that we take the time to connect with people in person but sometimes I find that it doesn’t always happen as frequently as I’d like and with blogging and email I feel like I can keep up the relationships. Plus I love being able to share pics of the kids and other important events in our lives. You and Kristy have been a huge inspiration for me to even start blogging…so THANKS!
Why do I read both your’s and Kristy’s blogs? One reason is to keep in touch and read about the baby. But the most important reason is to lift me up. To see that two people can and do love and adore each other the way you and Kristy do. It is refreshing to hear the two of you speak so lovingly about each other and know that this is not some hollywood script but real life. The love that the two of you have for each other is a small percentage of the love you have for God. AND YOU ARE PROUD TO PROCLAIM IT! Both you and Kristy (Savannah too!) inspire me to be a better person both in my personal and professional life.

For whatever reason I missed this post back in the day, so here’s a late response. I think of my blog as a sounding board - to ruminate, debate, laugh, tell people what’s going on, etc. But I have to admit, lately there’s been more and more of a desire to - as William Wallace said in Braveheart - go and “pick a fight”. I’m in the midst of a learning “chain reaction”, that, when it hits critical mass, I can’t wait to press people’s buttons (in the right way of course) and stir up discussion of controversial subjects….
