contemplations of a dad, husband and entrepreneur
25 Sep
At around 3:30p today, I got an IM from Kristy that simply said, “We have a major problem.” Turns out, somehow (I think the plumber did it–and no, we’re not playing Clue), water had been spewing out from under the sink for an unknown amount of time. What I can tell you is this, water is everywhere. Our wood floors are ruined, cabinets are swelling, and there are dozens of places where water has leaked through our sheetrock on both the main floor and basement/garage. It’s a mess. Here are some pictures to help you visualize…

If you want to see some more pics, head over to our flickr blog and there are a few more.
Honestly, this seems like an easy lesson for us. While we’re not thinking lightly of the situation, both Kristy and I are quick to point out that there must be a lot more going on behind our back than in front of our face. Yes, this will push us back at least a month from moving into our house and yes, we’ll have to deal with insurance to get this resolved. Yet, at the end of the day, we’ve been given the opportunity to own this beautiful home and we’ll be in it soon enough. We’ll be patient and wait it out. If anything this gives us a chance to focus on the outside of the house. It’s time to landscape!

Oh man that is terrible. I will pray that God will continue to give you the patience to get through this.
Oh boy - what a complete bummer! It’s amazing how much damage something as ordinary as water can do to a home. You have a great attitude about it though. God is so faithful…it’s all going to work out. You’re right to just be patient and thankful for all He’s done for you. Let Jim and I know if there’s anything that you and Kristy need in the meantime!
Great to find you on the web! So sorry to see the flooding, but GREAT to see your sweet fam. Once you’re dried out, toss me an eMail sometime.
Wow. Almost the same thing happened to us last month. Water had been leaking from under our sink and started to flood our kitchen floor. The had to ripe up the flooring and replace all the wood underneath along with insulation in the walls and all of our cabinets. They even found black mold, scary stuff. Good luck with the repairs.
