For those of you who have been tracking the process we’ve gone through to build our house, I thought I’d give a quick update.

We’re so close!

We’re finally in the stages of cleaning and punch lists. Most of the damaged that happened from the great flood of 2007 is now restored and our house is finally looking like it did previous to our water infiltration. The past few nights I’ve spent many hours wiping down cabinets and doors, installing the final face plates, sweeping, etc. Here’s a brief punch list of things that have to be done. I’ll give you updates as we go along.

* Install carpet (happening TODAY!)
* Installation of screens on porch
* Landscaping
* Installation of gas meter
* Electrical inspection
* Mechanical inspection
* Plumbing inspection
* Last coat of poly on wood floors (11/28)
* Final inspection - receipt of Certificate of Occupancy
* Close on the house
* Clean (never ends)
* Move In (anticipating 11/29-12/1)

We’re coming up on just over 11 months of actual building and 15 months of planning. While the process has been long and sometimes tiring, we are so thankful and ripe with gratitude for the gift we are about to posses.
