slinky-brass.jpgToday, the first Motiveight marketing initiative to get new business arrived at the offices of 18 prospects; some known, some are a totally random attempt to try to get the attention of a prospect customer. It is my hope that I’ll get at least four solid leads on new business or orders. That would bring a 25% response rate, which is unheard of in most businesses.

The effort was to send out a reminder to “spring forward” on Saturday night (Daylight savings time starts on Sunday at 2am). To creatively do so, we sent out a white box with a brass slinky inside with a message that read:

(front) “Sometimes a SPRING in creativity…”

(back) “is all it takes.

Wondering what this is all about?
We’re a group of fresh creatives who are ready to help you
put a SPRING in your marketing creativity.

The back of the piece talked about how using promotional products in a creative way can bring better leads, bigger sales and satisfied customers.

Below this piece was a wooden box with the Motiveight logo printed on a brass plate for more branding. When you opened the box top, there was a 3″x3″ card that said:

Don’t forget to SPRING forward this weekend. Saturday at 2AM Daylight Savings Time starts (I just realized that I said Saturday, not Sunday. Oops.)

Underneath the card was a brass slinky with a slogan “We think so you can play” and the Motiveight logo and URL printed on the side.

My intentions are to show people that you can use seasonal or even random events to creatively tell people about your business and what it can offer them. We chose to focus on the season of Spring (the slinky box was sitting in some green shredded paper–think grass) and the “Spring forward” for daylight savings.

I’m curious to see if this type of marketing promotion will work for us. I have scores of other examples of similar efforts that worked very well for other marketeers. I’m hoping that not only will the creativity spark an interest, but that four of those boxes will hit people at their greatest creative need and call or respond to my follow ups next week. We’ll see.

Overall, I’m enthusiastic about this effort. Motiveight has recently doubled it’s workforce and had some unexpected client changes so we’re anxious to help out some new clients.
