		<description>This is great. Last Christmas Madeliene and I convinced my family to stop giving gifts to each other. Instead, we took the money that we would have spent on each other and donated it to Heffer International. We&#039;re doing the same thing this year, although we haven&#039;t decided on an organization yet.

My family also enacted a &quot;no obligatory gifts&quot; policy. We buy things for each other when we see things that make sense, but not necessarily for birthdays and holidays. It&#039;s actually made the gifts better because they&#039;re actually meaningful and intentional.</description>
