About

I am the Vice President of Marketing for Halogen; a socially conscious television network and website that targets and activates an emerging generation who are willing and ready to give back. I oversee all marketing activities for the network including affiliate and consumer marketing in addition to partnership development.

I serve on the board of two three non-profits: One More Life (see below), Kean & Company, and Help-Portrait, where I also serve as the Executive Director.

Previously, I was the owner and President of Motiveight Marketing Group, a company that helps small businesses with marketingbranding and custom products. We helped launch Halogen TV and Help-Portrait (you should check them out). The company started in July 2006 out of Orlando, Fla. and relocated to Franklin, Tenn. in February 2008.

I grew up in Bend, Ore., which is arguably one of the best small towns in the country. After graduating from George Fox University in Newberg, Ore. with a management degree, I started my career at VoxCorp, publishers of 7ball and Release magazines, in 1997 as the online and distribution manager. I worked there for two years before venturing out as a freelance web designer under the d.b.a. of Extream Media (such a 90’s name). After a little over two years as an independent, my wife and I moved to Orlando, Fla. to help launch Relevant Media GroupRelevant Magazine, Radiant MagazineRelevant Books and Relevant Network. There I served as the sales and marketing director from 2002 until 2006.

In 2007, I, along with two buddies Rob Sperti and Steve Trover, started a non-profit called One More Life. We are in the early stages of development and hope to use it as a catalyst to empower people to bring global change on an individual scale. Inspired by Oscar Schindler’s passion to help “just one more,” we aim to do the same.

While the above mention the things I do, they aren’t what make me who I am. I am a husband of ten years to Kristy. In July 2007 I became the proud, and I mean PROUD, father of Savannah Grace. It took us five years to conceive, thanks to the very generous help of Dr. Mark Trollice from Fertility C.A.R.E. in Winter Park, FL. Our son, Caleb Douglas, arrived on January 9, 2009. He’s a surprise and a miracle from Jesus as we have never, repeat NEVER, been able to get pregnant on our own. Finally, I am the son of Mike & Tina Chowning, and the brother of, Charysse Hesse, all of whom live in Oregon—mine (and God’s) favorite state.

My interests and hobbies are a mix bag and hard to describe so rather than providing a simple list, I’ll describe my perfect Saturday:

  • 7:00am – Awake with Savannah & Caleb, have some cuddletime (yes, one word) and watch cartoons
  • 7:30am – partake of the morning’s coffee
  • 8:00am – pancakes, waffles or some other yummy breakfast food with my family
  • 9:00am – snuggletime with the wife and play time with Savannah & Caleb
  • 10:00am – household chores (yardwork, painting, cleaning, organizing, etc)
  • 12:00pm – lunch
  • 1:00pm – wash each of the three cars by hand; outside then inside using Meguiars products thoroughly
  • 5:00pm – get Kristy, Savannah and Caleb and go for a ride in my 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback (passed down from my grandfather)
  • 6:00pm – dinner – Mexican preferably
  • 7:00pm – play with Savannah & Caleb and ready for bedtime
  • 8:00pm – get caught up on RSS feeds and/or write a blog
  • 9:00pm – movie and popcorn with my lovely
  • 11:00pm – off to bed

And that, is the perfect Saturday.
